Day 17: Michigan;
Ironwood to
Greenland – Sept 12;
74 miles + 26 miles (returning to Silver City)
From Ironwood we biked on Highway 2 to Wakefield, turning onto Highway 28 riding past Lake Gogebic to Bergland, turning onto Highway 64, riding past Whitepine and on into Silver City, at the foothills of the Porcupine Mountains. We had a wonderful lunch at The Foothills Cafe in Silver City. Then we biked to Ontonagon on Highway 64 where Connie visited the Ontonagon Historical Museum and the others biked to Greenland and back to Ontonagon and we all biked back to Silver City. We had made a decision to ride back to Silver City to spend the last night of our bike ride around the Lake on the beaches of beautiful Lake Superior. We celebrated our last night on the road for our trip around Lake Superior with a wonderful dinner at the restaurant in the motel, playing on the beach and champagne in our rooms. We stayed in the AmericInn and Restaurant in Silver City just outside the Porcupine Wilderness State Park.
